MAPLE SHADE WATER UPDATE:
This spill is NOT impacting Maple Shade’s public water supply or water quality. Maple Shade purchases a small amount of water from New Jersey American Water, which is pulled from the Delaware River. When notified about the incident, Maple Shade took precautions and stopped buying water prior to any water quality issue. Maple Shade’s public water supply is currently being supplied by the township's own groundwater wells ONLY. Our wells are not impacted by the contamination event in the Delaware River reported on March 26. The township's water supply continues to be SAFE for consumption and NO water restrictions are in place.
NJ AMERICAN WATER UPDATE:
New Jersey American Water released a statement and wants to reassure its customers that treated water from its Delaware River Regional Water Treatment Plant is not impacted by the chemical spill that occurred early Saturday morning from a manufacturing plant into a tributary of the river in Bristol, Pa.
New Jersey American Water is monitoring the source water and performing water quality tests at various points in the treatment process and throughout the distribution system. At this time the company has determined that the spill has not impacted the treated drinking water being delivered to customers in the three counties served by the Delaware River Regional Water Treatment Plant.
